Roger Ver is a well-known Bitcoin evangelist and angel investor. He is a high-profile member of the Bitcoin community and has invested in over ten Bitcoin businesses including Blockchain, Ripple, Blockpay, as well as Charlie’s Shrem’s Bitcoin transaction company BitInstant. He received the "Bitcoin Jesus" title after giving thousands of coins of the virtual currency away for free.

In 1999, Ver founded MemoryDealers.com while in college, a company specializing in the used Cisco memory and networking equipment industry. In early 2011 Ver discovered Bitcoin, the most important invention in the history of the world since the internet as he claimed it. MemoryDealers became the first mainstream business to accept Bitcoins as payment, and Ver has since become the most prolific Bitcoin related startup investor.

Previously, Ver acted as a self-confessed “voluntaryist” who believes that the government should have no control over your money. In 2000, he ran for California State Assembly as a Libertarian and came under fire for calling America’s Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) a “bunch of murderers”.

Ver was born in the U.S. and was a citizen until he renounced his citizenship in March 2014. In January, 2015, he was denied entry back into the U.S.
