The Fifth President of India and the second to die in office, F. A. Ahmed attained the office on August 24, 1974 before he passed away on February 11, 1977. A freedom fighter prior to Independence, he was active in the Quit India Movement in 1942, before being arrested and jailed for a three and a half years.
