Sarvepalli Radakrishnan

A noted and prominent philosopher and writer, the second President of India was Sarvepalli Radakrishnan. He also served as the Vice-Chancellor of Andhra and Banaras Hindu University. His term lasted from May 13 1962 till May 13 1967. He received Bharat Ratna, the nation's highest award, in 1954 before becoming President. Pope John VI made him the Knight of the Golden Army of Angels.
