After being in a band which started in 1977 called the Wagon Wheels, Oliver Mthukudzi went solo in 1978. Using his husky voice, he uses traditional music, with a sprinkle of jazz to created his own sound.

Through this, his success became international, and made a number of worldwide tours, and sang with famous musicians such as Ringo Madlingozi from South Africa.
