Ornithorhynchus Anatinus

Even the English name "Platypus" has it own etymology. It is the latinisation of the Greek word platupous, which means "flat-footed". The species name Ornithorhynchus anatinus is derived from ornithorhynkhos, which literally means "bird snout" in Greek; and anatinus, which means "duck-like" in Latin.
