bass boat

Specialty craft designed primarily for bass fishing or other fresh water fishing in lakes, rivers and streams. The modern bass boat features swivel chairs that permit the angler to cast to any position around the boat. They usually come with lots of storage space for rods, gear and storage (some with livewells.) There is usually a raised-deck casting platform in the bow (and often the stern), with provision for an electric trolling motor. Most often fiberglass, but aluminum models are available. They range from 16 to mid 20 ft. The bass boat can be trailered and holds up to 5 people.

Bass boats are usually propelled by two means: an outboard motor, which moves the boat swiftly from place to place; and a trolling motor, which moves the boat at a slow pace through an area where the angler is fishing. Should those motors fail, bass boats are small enough to be propelled by oars in an emergency.
