Cribbing or box crib is an underground mining technique whereby a temporary box made of blocks of wood or plastic, 4x4 or 6x6 inches long is used to support the roof of a mine. A box is built arranging sets of blocks to form a square or a rectangle. Source: Infomine, Mining Dictionary.
