This is a combination of the two words in the term “translation agency”. A translation agency or translationcy is a service provider specialized on language services. Those can include translation, proofreading and editing, various forms of interpretation (conference, simultaneous, consecutive), subtitling, transcription, etc.

A translationcy can either work together with a high number of qualified freelance translators or hire a smaller number of in-house translators. Working together with a pool of translators allows a translationcy to cover many different fields and language combinations. A set of in-house translators, however, make it possible to focus on specific language combinations and fields of expertise.
