Mediterranean diet is a food style popular in Southern Europe that is rich in olive oil, nuts, beans, fruits and vegetables. The diet is moderate to high in fat, but it's rich in healthy fats and low in the unhealthy, saturated fats found in animal products like butter and red meat. Recent studies have found that Mediterranean diet reduces the risk of heart problems in people at high risk for these conditions.
