A set of new Apple software tools for the iPad that attempt to fundamentally reinvent the old-fashioned school textbook. The iBooks 2 and iTunes U apps are designed to allow publishers and teachers to easily prepare interactive digital lessons and other learning materials on the Apple iPad. IBooks 2 will be able to display books with videos and other interactive features.

As one of Steve Jobs' pet projects, native digital learning experience aims to make the clunky, dull and often outdated paper textbooks obsolete.
