Andrea Pirlo (born 19 May 1979), is an Italian professional footballer who plays for Juventus and the Italian national team. He is usually deployed as a deep-lying playmaker for both Juventus and Italy and is regarded as a leading exponent of this position.

Pirlo scored one goal during Italy's qualification campaign for the 2014 FIFA World Cup, converting a penalty as Italy dispatched Armenia by a score of 3–1 on 12 October 2012. On 5 June 2014, Pirlo was selected by Italy manager Cesare Prandelli as part of his 23-man squad for the World Cup in Brazil.
