Louisiana State University and Mechanical College is a public coeducational univeristy located in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Originally founded in 1835 under the name Louisiana State Seminar of Learning & Military Academy, but moved in 1926. It is the largest institution of higher education in Louisiana. It ranks #128 in the nation (2012). Nicknames include the Fighting Tigers and the Bayou Bengals.
