The Greenspan acoustic viscometer, first investigated by M. Greenspan and F. N. Wimenitz in 1953, is a relatively compact and robust device for measuring the viscosity of gases using the principles of acoustic resonance. The viscometer was further developed both experimentally and theoretically during the past decade.
