The portion of a video display signal that corresponds to the blanking interval on either side of a horizontal or vertical synchronization pulse.

Front porch refers to the blanking interval that precedes the sync pulse and back porch refers to the blanking interval that follows the sync pulse. See also back porch, front porch.
