O metodă eficientă de calcul a discrete Fourier algoritmul de transformare, care transformă funcţiilor între domeniul timp şi domeniul de frecvenţă. Domeniul timp-frecvenţă se numeşte înainte transforma, precum şi domeniul de frecvenţă-la-timp este numit de transformare inversa.
