A term used to describe the loss of General (horizontal gene, minor, multigenic, Polygenic) resistance in a cultivar after several generations of selection, during which a main gene confers resistance to dominant or pathogen biotype race; first observed on potato cultivar Vertifolia with late blight resistance.
