Instruction word
In fixed-point DSP programming, an instruction word is a 16-bit value representing all or half of an instruction. An instruction that is fully represented by 16 bits uses one instruction word. An instruction that must be represented by 32 bits uses two instruction words; the second word is a constant. (In floating-point devices, all instruction words are 32-bits.) integrated circuit (IC)
