President Fitzgerald "Fitz" Thomas Grant III is the 44th and current President of the United States of America. He is a Republican; his wife is Mellie Grant and he has three children with her; two sons and a daughter: Jerry, Karen, and Teddy. He is in love with Olivia Pope and had an affair with her during his presidential campaign and his first few months as President.

Fitz met Olivia Pope during his Primary campaign shortly after the Iowa Caucus. His campaign manager, Cyrus Beene brought her in to help turn around the floundering campaign. Fitz refers to Olivia as the "love of his life" although he has been married to Mellie for 20+ years. Fitz and Olivia are currently together (they have an on-off relationship, but even when they "break up" it's clear that they never stop loving each other).
