The Beatles

Formed in Liverpool in 1960, The Beatles were an English rock band that became arguably the most successful act of the 20th century. With John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr, the band had a root in skiffle, beat and 1950s rock and roll, but later experimented with other genres such as pop ballads to psychedelic and hard rock, often incorporating classical elements in innovative ways. The Beatles contributed to music, film, literature, art, and fashion, made a significant impact on popular culture and the lifestyle of several generations. Their songs and images carrying powerful ideas of love, peace, help, and imagination evoked creativity and liberation, thus making impact on human history.

The Beatles' record label, Apple Corps, sued Apple Computer for trademark infringement in 1979, with last of these suits settled only in 2007. In 2010, The Beatles music finally appeared on Apple Computer's iTunes store.
