Tumpeng is a cone-shaped rice dish which is surrounded by many assorted accompanying dishes like fried chicken, shredded omelettes, potato cakes, fried tempe (soybean cakes) and tofu, fried shrimps, sambals, and Indonesian salads.

The color of the rice is either yellow or white and it is served on a big circle bamboo plate. The portion of tumpeng is usually big enough for 4 to 10 people (it depends on the size of the tumpeng).

Tumpeng is a special rice dish that is usually served in Javanese traditional ceremonies or to celebrate parties or events.
