early release

Early release- arrangements for early release from prison, including PAROLE. Sentences of custody are served partly in prison and partly in the community. Adult prisoners serving determinate short-term sentences may be released early under a curfew with electronic monitoring. If the person breaches the curfew or leaves the specified address, his or her release licence can be revoked and he or she is then liable to be returned to prison. Parole applies only to longer sentences and life imprisonment.
